Aurangabad, May 4:

The private and government hospitals and covid care centres in the city are full of civud patients. Also, the number of home quarantine patients is increasing due to lack of oxygen facilities in most of the hospitals. On the other hand, although the demand for oxygen cylinders has increased, there is a shortage in supply. As a result, suppliers have also become vulnerable. As a result, most of the critically ill patients receiving treatment at home are not getting oxygen supply.

At present, due to non-availability of beds in private and government hospitals, many patients with corona disease are being treated at home, while many patients are being discharged from the hospital. As many as 1200 to 1500 patients are being discharged daily Meanwhile, some patients who have come home from the hospital also need oxygen. Hence now there is a shortage of 1.5 cubic gas cylinders. Zenab Enterprises (Mondha Naka), Sushil Gases (Shendra), Sagar Gases (Waluj MIDC) and Apeksha Multiservices (Jaffer Gate) are the four locations in the city for refilling 1.5 cubic oxygen gas cylinders for domestic use. However, the owners said that there was a shortage of oxygen due to increased demand from patients seeking treatment at home. Sujit Jain of Apeksha Multiservices said, currently, liquid oxygen is being supplied from Pune, while air suppression is being obtained from plants at Gevrai Tanda, Waluj and Paithan. Due to the increasing demand for domestic oxygen cylinders over the last few days, it is not possible to refill them all. There is a demand of 50-100 people per day, it is possible to refill only 6 to 7 cylinders. If a tanker arrives from the supplier, it runs out in 4-5 hours.

There has been a increase in demand for oxygen gas cylinders since last month. Now 2-3 people are coming every day. This makes it difficult to continue supply. At present, 80-100 people come for refilling cylinders every day. The problem arises if the oxygen tanker does not arrive on time, said supplier Ajit Jain.
