Aurangabad, March 2:

The Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) administrator A K Pandey today underlined that the lockdown would not be implemented in the whole city (like in the districts of Vidarbha after finding of 300-350 Covid-19 patients). However, he hinted at the implementation of a curfew in the areas where the crowd does not maintain social distancing or a large number of patients are reported. The aim of the action would be to seal the hotspots and avoid the spread of Coronavirus in other parts of the city. It is learnt that Gulmandi and Jadhavwadi areas are on AMC's radar!

Due to the rise in the number of Covid-19 patients, the fear is gripping in the minds of the common citizens about the implementation of lockdown in the city. When drew his attention towards it, Pandey said, " The lockdown could be implemented in one portion of the city as well. The decision to implement it will be taken after reviewing the areawise reporting of Covid-19 patients and violations of guidelines. Meanwhile, we are keeping an eye on the Covid-19 situation in the city."

Earlier, the AMC administration had taken stern action against function halls, ordered the closure of coaching classes, colleges and schools to avoid the spread of the virus. Now, strict penal action is being taken against irresponsible citizens roaming without facemasks in the city. " There was Covid-19 pandemic in the whole world. This year the situation is not like that, but the threat of virus continues. The situation would be normalised in 2022 after the vaccination," he stressed.

Pandey also said that the AMC is planning to start 30 vaccination centres in the city soon. The centre will be started in areas reporting a large number of Covid-19 patients.
