Aurangabad, June 15:

A delegation from the Marathwada Association of Small Scale Industries and Agriculture (MASSIA) met Niti Aayog chief executive officer, Amitabh Kant under the leadership of Massia president Narayan Pawar recently.

The delegation consisted of MP Dr Bhagwat Karad, vice president Kiran Jagtap, PRO Rahul Mogle and former president Sunil Kirdak. Pawar briefed Kant about Aurangabad city, the industries and the Massia organization here through a presentation. He informed that the products from the industrial areas at Waluj, Chikalthana, Shendra are supplied to the entire country and also exported to more than 70 countries. The industries here have the potential to produce quality and exportable products. However, Massia office-bearers pointed out the need for a permanent convention center to showcase their capabilities and products. Kant said that he is ready to work as soon as space becomes available for the convention center. The delegation also informed that in the automobile sector, the supply chain is well-organized from tier to tier 3-4 cities, hence efforts should be made to bring in a large automobile company that will be an anchor project in DMIC. In order to further enhance the quality and productivity of the region more skill development schemes must be introduced. The small and medium enterprises must be provided some help and the uncontrolled rise in steel and raw material prices must be stopped. The issues including electricity bills, pending allocations and regulations should be resolved. Kant assured the delegation that he would take positive action on the needs and problems of the industries raised by Massia.
