Aurangabad, April 25:

The financial condition of the municipal corporation is very bad. There is no money in the coffers to pay the salaries of the employees.

For the last 13 months, most of the employees of the corporation have been working as corona warriors. Sanitation staff are risking their lives to keep the city clean. Health workers, contractual workers, linemen are also doing their duty. But contractual workers are paid two to three months late. The salaries of the permanent employees are delayed. The municipal corporation receives Rs 24 crore as GST from the state government every month. Of this, Rs 20 to 21 crore is spent on salaries and pensions. The remaining amount is used to pay the electricity bill. However, the income from property tax, water tax, town planning has slowed down due to covid adding to the crisis of the corporation.
