Aurangabad, Jan 15: The state government has given in-principle approval to connect Nanded city with the Hindu Hridaysamrat Balasaheb Thackeray Maharashtra Samruddhi Mahamarg. The project will provide direct and fast connectivity to Hingoli, Parbhani districts as well as Nanded district. This project will save both time and money for Nanded-Mumbai, Nanded-Aurangabad journey.

The total length of the Jalna to Nanded Expressway that will be part of Samruddhi Mahamarg is 194 kms and an estimated Rs 5,500 crore will be spent on its construction, said Public Works Department minister Ashok Chavan.

The decision was taken at a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Infrastructure chaired by Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray at Mumbai.

Explaining the project, Chavan said, "It was my wish that Nanded should be connected to the Mumbai-Nagpur Samruddhi Mahamarg. I was constantly striving for that. At last, the efforts have fructified."

According to this decision, construction of expressway from Jalna T-point on Samruddhi Highway to Nanded city will be done. During the meeting in Mumbai, a proposal for preparing the detailed project report with technical-engineering and financial facilities for the construction of this expressway was passed.

As the Samruddhi Highway will be connected to JNPT (Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust) Mumbai, it will be possible to transport goods from Nanded, Parbhani and Hingoli districts for international trade in less time, said Chavan.

Rs 1000 crore works

Roads will also be constructed in Nanded city as part of the connecting link of Nanded-Jalna Samruddhi Highway. Hingoli Gate-Bafna Chowk-Degloor Naka to Chhatrapati Chowk (Dhanegaon Junction) road in Nanded city, flyover and bridge over Godavari river near Degloor Naka will also be the parts of the project, he clarified. These work worth Rs 1000 crore were also given in-principle approval.

Stating that there is still a lot of work to be done to complete this project, he said, "I am confident that this work will be completed soon with the help and blessings of the people."

Highlights of the project

1.Connecting Nanded to Samruddhi Mahamarg will facilitate transportation and travel from Nanded to Mumbai and Aurangabad and will also save time and money.

2.Benefits of the freight, connectivity directly to JNPT will provide new opportunities to local professionals and give a boost to development
