Aurangabad, Oct 29:

The members of Academic Council (AC) of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University (Bamu) unanimously approved the decision to commence the new Academic Year (AY) from November first.

It may be noted that the new AY begins in the second week of June every year. However, the academic calendar of colleges and university was disrupted due to the spread of Novel coronavirus. The number of patients is declining for the past few days, so, the university was planning to start the AY. There was confusion over the beginning of the AY. The matter came up for discussions in the AC meeting held on Thursday. Vice-chancellor Dr Pramod Yeole presided over it.

There were arguments over some issues in the meeting. The AC members agreed to start the AY from November 1. The classes of postgraduate courses in university departments and colleges will commence by November end as examinations of different undergraduates were held and results are expected before Diwali festival.

The members opposed to the recruitment on 18 posts of teachers on a contractual basis as the AC permission was not taken for it. They also sought replay as to why only one post will be filled through reserved category candidate out of 18.

The administration failed to give a satisfactory answer to it. So, the proposal was sent back to the Management Council for re-consideration. The members demanded that all foreign students should be given admission to Ph D if they are eligible.
