Aurangabad, Nov 30:

The municipal corporation had not launched a single new development work due to paucity of funds. The works are likely to remain as a distant dream as the new works would be undertaken or launched only if the collection of taxes are satisfactory till March-end.

Meanwhile, the ward officers, are left with no work, except repairing of drainage systems in their respective jurisdiction.

It may be noted that for the past eight months the civic body is busy in controlling and preventing the spread of Coronavirus in the city. As a result, the collection of taxes remained out of focus and there is no money in its exchequer.

The ward engineers concerned had submitted the estimates of the development works, which were included in the budget of 2020-21, but is crystal clear that these works could see the light of the day only if there is money in corporation''s safe.

Presently, ward engineers have no work. Few weeks ago, the AMC released part payment to the contractors, but the drainage contractors were not included in it. As a result, they are disappointed. Hence, the contractors are not ready to undertake drainage repairing works, as a result, they are getting it done with the available manpower.
