Aurangabad, April 26:
An octogenarian lady patient who did not get a bed in Ahmednagar overcame COVID in just five days after she was admitted to District Civil Hospital (DCH).
According to details, the lady Bhimabai Chandrabhan Tupe (84, Pathardi, Ahmednagar) was facing breathing problems and had a fever. Her test was done on April 16 and she was detected positive and the oxygen level in her body was 85. She was instructed to get admitted to the hospital. Her relatives searched all hospitals throughout the day in Ahmednagar but did not get a bed.
The relatives brought her to the city with high hopes and after two hours search, they found a bed in a private hospital.
Doctors asked the relatives to bring a ‘Remdesivir’ injection for her. They tried to get the injection for two days, however, they did not find it.
She was shifted to the ICU of District Civil Hospital (DCH), where she was administered a ‘Remdesivir’ injection.
As her oxygen level increased, she was shifted to a general ward. The lady was discharged on Monday after her oxygen level crossed the 100 mark. She overcame the pandemic virus in just five days.
Dr Ashwin Patil, Dr Gaikwad, Dr Smita Chavan, Dr Vipin Rathod, in charge sister Meena Khandagale, Kusum Bhalerao, Janabai Munde, Shanta Gajjewar, Pallavi Mutha, Pooja Kumbhare, Mangal Kurhade, Snehal Waghmare, Anit Mhaske, Sujata Ghude and others under the guidance of District Civil Surgeon Dr S V Kulkarni took efforts to help the aged patient.
Sunil Bhadke, one of the patient's relatives, said that they are grateful to doctors and staff members of the hospital for treating patients even though they are under tremendous stress.
“My grandmother got the bed in the city and she recovered. We all returned home today. This was possible just because of DCH staff,” he added.
