Aurangabad, May 9:

The Jalna based Polaad steel company, which manufactures steel bar products, has set up a project to produce oxygen from the air. The project will generate 300 cylinders of oxygen per day. One hundred of these cylinders will be used by the group for themselves, while the remaining two hundred cylinders will be given to hospitals and patients free of cost, taking into account social responsibility. It is noteworthy that the board of directors of the company stated that the project was set up in just 18 days after the appeal of the divisional commissioner Sunil Kendrekar.

Currently, coronavirus has greatly increased the demand for oxygen in the country. The situation is similar in Maharashtra and Jalna districts. Against this backdrop, the Kendrekar along with Jalna district collector Ravindra Binwade had held a meeting of steel entrepreneurs on April 16. The divisional commissioner had appealed to the steel industries to contribute to the oxygen production due to increased demand. The board of directors of Polaad steel decided to set up a project to produce oxygen. On the same day, materials for a project to produce oxygen from the air were ordered from Tamil Nadu. The material reached Jalna on April 27. Until then, the board had completed all legal procedures. Five engineers from Coimbatore and company workers set up the project in 11 days. Since the production of oxygen started on Saturday, three hundred cylinders of oxygen are being produced daily.

Free oxygen for patients

Patients will be given free oxygen from Polaad company. But they will require an empty cylinder and a certificate from the doctor. The board of directors has appealed to patients who need oxygen to contact the company management.

Project set up in record time

The company officials said that the project was set up in record time due to the hard work of workers, management and support of divisional commissioner and district collector.
