Aurangabad, Jan 6:

A doctor girl married a boy from another religion and her parents were not ready to accept this nuptial tie. Her family members also took her mobile phone. Hence, the boy went to the Pundliknagar police station for help. The police counseled the girl''s parents and arranged a symbolic marriage ceremony of the already married couple at the police station again. The couple exchanged garlands, and the police conveyed best wishes for their newly wedded life.

Sunita (name changed), a resident of the Garkheda area is studying the final year of the BHMS course. She had an affair with Vivek Harale (Satara area) for the past seven years. However, her family members were against their marriage as he belonged to another caste. Vivek’s parents favoured their marriage. Sunita was afraid to arrange marriage publically due to the fear of her family members. Hence, they got married through the registration system at District Collectorate in May, 2019 but stayed at their own homes since then. Four days back, she gained courage and told her parents about their marriage. However, they did not accept the marriage and even took her mobile phone. Sunita, upset with all these circumstances, tried to commit suicide by cutting her hand with a razor. When Vivek came to know about it, he went to the Pundliknagar police station and told the police about their woes. Police went to the house of the girl and counseled her parents. They told that as per law both are married and they can take the decision by their own. The police then called the parents of Sunita and Vivek at police station and arranged a symbolic wedding ceremony again. The bride and the bridegroom exchanged garlands.

API, Ghansham Sonawane played a vital role in settling the issue. PSI Prabhakar Sonawane, PSI Vikas Khatke, constables and lady constables conveyed wishes to the couple for their future life.
