A temporary jail will be set up at SBOA public school on Jalgaon road for the newly admitted inmates to prevent the spread of corona infection in the Harsul jail. District collector Sunil Chavan accompanied by jail officials inspected the SBOA school today.
The covid mortality rate has increased compared to last year. The virus is also spreading at an alarming rate. Against this backdrop, the prison administration has taken precautionary measures to prevent inmates from being infected with coronavirus at Harsul central jail. A new inmate is being held in a separate barrack. After staying quarantine there for 14 days, he is kept in the inner circle barracks again for 14 days. Other prisoners are not allowed to come in contact with the new inmate. Even so, there is a possibility of the spread of the deadly virus. Taking this into consideration, the district administration decided to set up a temporary jail at SBOA school on Jalgaon road. Collector Chavan, deputy jail superintendent R R Bhosale, jailor S Tayde inspected the school building on Thursday. The arrangements regarding the safety of the prisoners and strict arrangements to prevent them from escaping were examined. Even last year, a temporary jail was set up here for a few days. One of the prisoners had escaped. The prisoner was later arrested by police. However, care is being taken not to repeat this incident.
