Aurangabad, Dec 4:

The Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd (MSEDCL) has taken action about the power theft by putting a service wire on the low-pressure electricity wire illegally at Abrar Colony. Electricity amounting Rs 18,450 was stolen in the past two years. A case has been registered at the Cantonment police station in this regard.

The regional joint managing director of the Aurangabad regional office, Dr Naresh Gite has given the orders to all the MSEDCL officers to take strict action against the illegal power usage.

In this backdrop, MSEDCL received a complaint that electricity is being used illegally at Abrar Colony. As per the order of chief engineer Bhujang Khandare, a team led by executive engineer Premsingh Rajput, additional executive engineer Shankar Chinchale, assistant engineer Yogesh Jadhav and others went to the Abrar Colony on Thursday morning. It was observed that resident Rasul Khan Mehboob Khan was using electricity illegally for domestic use. Rasul Khan used 35 feet long wire for power pilferage and used around 2160 units of electricity, amounting Rs 18,450/- in two years. A case has been registered against him based on the complaint lodged by assistant engineer Yogesh Jadhav.
