The Motor Accident Claims Tribunal has ordered a compensation of Rs 1.51 crore, with 6% interest, to be paid to the family of Pulagam Prakash an assistant manager at a private firm who died in a road accident. The court ruled that the amount must be paid from June 6, 2022, the date of the claim until settlement, as per the directive of Judge M.S. Sahasrabuddhe.

On April 4, 2022, Prakash was riding his two-wheeler to work in Waluj when a car hit him from behind near Alhiyanagar Naka. The impact left him critically injured. He was rushed to GMCH, where he succumbed to his injuries during treatment. Advocate V.C. Sarode, representing Prakash’s family, argued that the car driver’s negligence caused the fatal crash. At 35, Prakash was the family's sole breadwinner, earning Rs 69,200 per month. His wife, two young children, and elderly parents relied on his income. The tribunal’s order acknowledges the financial crisis his death created for the family. The ruling reinforces the importance of road safety and accountability, as the bereaved family awaits the long-overdue compensation.
