Aurangabad, Nov 30:

The district administration has sanctioned funds of Rs 4.52 crores for establishing an Oxygen tank at the Meltrol Covid Care Centre at Chikalthana. The district collectorate has issued a letter to the Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) two days back in this regard. AMC has already started the tendering process for establishing the oxygen tank. As the funds have been sanctioned now, the eligible agency will be given the work soon, informed the AMC medical officer Dr Neeta Padalkar.

The AMC had taken the decision to establish an oxygen tank at Meltrol CCC, two months back. The tender process was implemented for it. The health department has demanded Rs 8 crores to the district planning committee for oxygen tank and other important works.

The second Corona wave is predicted in January – February. Hence, the corporation is making preparations to tackle the crisis. Two days back, AMC received the letter from the district collectorate. Now, the work will be started soon after taking the sanction of the administrator Astik Kumar Pandey, the sources said.

Presently, the capacity of the Meltron Hospital is 300 beds, of which, 128 are beds with oxygen facility. The AMC is running this hospital for Corona patients for the past five months.
