Aurangabad, Nov 29:

Farmers, retailers and consumers thronged the vegetable market in Jadhavwadi Agriculture Produce Market Committee (APMC) on Sunday morning. However, 90 per cent of the people did not wear masks nor followed social distancing. Due to the negligence of the administration, such a crowd may invite the second wave of Covid-19.

A huge crowd of buyers, farmers and sellers gathered in APMC from 5 am on Sunday. However, none of the farmers, traders, retailers nor citizens wore masks. Among the customers, only women were seen wearing masks. The APMC administration was making an announcement through a loudspeaker to wear masks. Yet no one was seen putting their masks on.

The negligence of the market committee

The APMC also does not appear to be doing anything to prevent the daily crowd. The market remained crowded till 11 am. It is feared that if another wave of Covid-19 hits the city, it will come from Jadhavwadi.

Responsibility of the APMC

The APMC is responsible for preventing overcrowding and enforcing the rules. Security guards were also not deployed. Police bandobast is required so that people will follow rules said Isa Khan, president, Fruit, Vegetable Wholesale Traders Association.
