Aurangabad, April 5:
Some of the district's English schools have decided to conduct the examination of students up to the eighth standard.
It may be noted School Education Minister announced on the last Saturday that all students from first to eighth standards would be promoted to the next class without holding the examinations this year because of COVID 19 situation.
This is the second time that students are being promoted to the next class. Last year too, students were promoted to the next class for the same reasons.
Some of the district's primary schools have decided to conduct the examination of their students, citing the reason for evaluation as an important process in education.
These schools have sent a message to parents informing them their examination of their children would be conducted as usual.
Commenting on this, the secretary of Chate School Somnath Waghmare said that they would conduct their students' examinations.
“Evaluation of students from first to the eighth standard is very important considering their future competition. The evaluation can be done through holding actual, online or other modes of examination. Our school imparted online education to students throughout the year, so we will provide students question papers to solve at home if not in an examination hall,” he added.
He feels that the promotion of students in the next class without examination would reduce their compatibility.
“There should be some kind of evaluation, 20 to 40 marks, if not 100 marks to make children responsible citizens and competent to face competition,” he added.
Members of the Maharashtra English Teachers Association (MESTA) also opposed the government's decision of students' promotion in the next class.
Some schools management, on the condition of anonymity, told this newspaper that the State Government had not taken the schools' management unions into confidence before taking the decision.
