Municipal administrator Astik Kumar Pandey has decided to set up a permanent oxygen system at the Metron Covid Care Center (CCC). The project is expected to cost around Rs 1 crore, and a tender has also been published for this work. The oxygen tank will have a capacity to supply oxygen to 300 patients.

Companies constructing oxygen tanks have been allowed to submit tenders till October 12. Tenders will be opened on October 14, said medical officer Dr Nita Padalkar.

The number of infected patients is increasing in the city. The municipal corporation has started CCC to treat corona patients. A large number of patients are being treated at this centre. It has been observed that most of these patients need oxygen. At present, the corporation has provided oxygen to 128 beds in Meltron centre. However, as the system was inadequate, the administration decided to supply oxygen for 300 beds. For this, an oxygen tank of 20 kilolitre liquid capacity will be set up. The municipal administration has issued a tender on October 1 to set up the tank. The oxygen tank will cost Rs 1 crore. The last date for accepting tenders is October 12 and tenders will be opened on October 14. It is planned to set up an oxygen tank in a month, Dr Padalkar said.
