Aurangabad, May 7:

Tourism minister Aditya Thackeray reviewed the Kham river conservation work taken up by the Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) on Friday. Administrator Astik Kumar Pandey said that a DPR of Rs 15 crore has been prepared for the revival of the river under the 'Majhi Vasundhara Abhiyan'.

Thackeray reviewed the Kham river restoration project through video conferencing. Pandey said that this work has been started through AMC, Aurangabad Smart City, Eco Satva, Varroc, Aurangabad Cantonment Board and NGOs. Every Saturday works like cleaning of river basin, tree planting, garbage removal are being done with public participation. A DPR of Rs 15 crore has been prepared and the work will be completed in phases every year as per the availability of funds. The project will come to fruition in five years. Natasha Zarine of Eco Satva gave information about the work. MLC Ambadas Danve, city engineer Sakharam Panjhade, solid Waste management department chief Nandkishore Bhombe, Gauri Mirashi, Aditya Tiwari, Arpita Sharad, Ashwini Paranjape, sanitation inspector Asadullah Khan were present.

Will participate in the campaign

Thackeray said AMC must take water samples every time and check it. The public representatives should be taken in confidence, he said, adding that he would also participate if a link is shared of the meeting held every Saturday.
