Aurangabad, May 3:

A woman attempted suicide by jumping from the two-storey building after throwing her one-year-old son and 3 years old daughter from the building over a petty dispute with the neighbours at Jijamata Colony in Bajajnagar in Waluj Mahanagar area on Monday at around 2.30 pm.

The one-year-old boy Soham died on the spot in this unfortunate incident. Daughter Pratiksha (3) and mother Anita Atkar (20) were severely injured and are being treated at the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH).

Satish Atkar lives with his wife Anita, daughter Pratiksha and son Soham in a rented house on the top floor of a building of Abhijit Rajendra Gaikwad at Jijamata Colony in Bajajnagar. Today, Atkar went on his work at around 7 am, and his family members were at home.

At around 2.30 pm, Anita took Pratiksha and Soham on the terrace of the building and threw Soham down from the terrace. The house owner Meena Gaikwad heard a noise and came out of the house. When she could understand anything, Anita threw three years old Pratiksha from the terrace. Mina tried to get hold of Pratiksha due to which she was saved. Anita also jumped from the terrace.

On receiving the information, Waluj MIDC police station PI Madhukar Sawant and others rushed to the spot and took all the three injured to the GMCH. Anita sustained severe head injuries, and both of her feet are fractured. Pratiksha sustained minor injuries on the leg. Both are being treated at the GMCH.

Two days back, Anita had a dispute with the neighbours over the playing of the children. After the quarrel, Anita had tied Pratiksha at home. Today, when Satish went on his work, in the fit of rage, Anita threw both the children down and also tried to commit suicide. PI Madhukar Sawant informed that her husband Satish told that Anita is suffering from fits and her treatment was going at Solapur. Prima facie, it was found that Anita due to mental stress threw the children from the terrace and later attempted suicide herself, Sawant said.
