It was a long-time desire of our family and I have been repeatedly saying in media that war heroes like Captain Vikram Batra are known worldwide and whatever he had done in Kargil was outstanding. I got phone calls from Pakistan also and they told me to describe the life of Captain Batra but I refused. I wish that our governments should add the stories of our war heroes in schools' syllabus so that the younger generation and future generations may get inspiration...," said GL Batra.July 7, marks the death anniversary of Captain Vikram Batra who was attached to the 13th battalion of the Jammu and Kashmir Rifles.On July 7, 1999, during the intense operations to capture Point 4875, also known as "Point 5140," Batra and his team faced heavy enemy fire. Undeterred by the grave danger, he fearlessly led his troops from the front and successfully seized the strategically important peak.Kargil War was one of the toughest wars fought in the most inhospitable conditions, both due to its geographical and climatic conditions.
