Bigg Boss Malayalam 3 has been suspended due to the rising cases of Covid-19 in Tamil Nadu. The makers had erected the set in Chennai. The Tamil Nadu government imposed a strict lockdown in the state due to the sharp rise in Covid-19 cases. During the lockdown, film and TV shootings are not permitted.  However, the channel has clarified that the show will continue once the situation gets better. The official press note from the channel airing the show reads, "Bigg Boss Malayalam 3 is temporarily suspended due to the rising COVID-19 cases and lockdown in Tamil Nadu. The show will be restarted soon the crisis is over".Bigg Boss Malayalam team continued shooting in EVP Studio, Chennai, the set was sealed. On Wednesday, Tamil Nadu police and the health department visited the set in EVP Studio. 

They sealed the area and stopped the shooting. The contestants of the show were shifted to a hotel. Bigg Boss Malayalam 3 which is hosted by superstar Mohanlal, recently announced an extension of two weeks after a lockdown was declared in Tamil Nadu. Bigg Boss Malayalam 3 premiered on February 14 with 14 contestants. Further, Sajina, Firoz, Michelle, Angel Thomas, and Remya Panicker were seen entering the show as wildcard entrants. In the recent weekend episode, contestants Remya and Soorya Menon got evicted from the show. Currently, there are 8 contestants namely, Manikuttan, Dimpal Bhal, Anoop Krishnan, Rithu Manthra, Ramzan, Sai Vishnu, Noby Marcose and Kidilam Firoz competing for the title. In the 14th week, the contestants were seen playing the weekly task, 'ticket to finale'. Last year, the second season of Bigg Boss Malayalam was suspended due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
