Amidst the growing concerns of the origin of the novel coronavirus which was wrecked havoc across the globe WHO has claimed that the deadly virus has orignated from a animal dismissing all theories that it is man made or escaped from a laboratory. The claims by WHO comes at a time when there is a theory floating around that the virus may have leaked by a intern who was working in the Wuhan lab. It was only last week that US media revealed that the virus leaked from a lab. US President Donald Trump also said that  his government was trying to determine whether the virus escaped  from a lab in the central Chinese city of Wuhan, where the coronavirus pandemic emerged in December.

Addressing a press conference WHO spokeswoman Fadela Chaib said, "It is probable, likely, that the virus is of animal origin." Fadela, however failed to give an explanation as to how  the virus had jumped the species barrier to humans. When quizzed about Trump's decision to halt funding to WHO, Chaib said, "We are still assessing the situation about the announcement by President Trump and we will assess the situation and we will work with our partners to fill any gaps." "It is very important to continue what we are doing not only for COVID but for many, many, many, many other health programmes," On the funding part Chaib said, WHO was 81 percent funded for the next two years as of the end of March, referring to its $4.8 billion biennial budget. The United States is the Geneva-based agency's biggest donor. Other big contributors are the Gates Foundation and Britain.
