This year, a lunar eclipse will occur on Holi, which falls on March 14, 2025. According to religious beliefs, performing any auspicious activities during a lunar eclipse should be avoided. Scriptures suggest taking specific precautions during Chandra Grahan to prevent its negative effects. However, this eclipse will not be visible in India, and hence, the Sutak period will not be considered valid.

Lunar Eclipse 2025: Date and TimeA lunar eclipse is an important astronomical event. This time, the penumbral lunar eclipse will take place on March 14, 2025. Since it will not be visible in India, its Sutak period will not apply.

What Not to Do During the Lunar Eclipse?Avoid Worship - Religious rituals and touching idols of deities should be avoided during the eclipse, as per scriptures. Instead, chanting the names of God is recommended.

Do Not Sleep – Sleeping during an eclipse is believed to have a negative impact on physical and mental health. It is advised to stay awake during this period.

Avoid Cooking or Eating – According to astrology, Rahu’s influence is strong during an eclipse. Therefore, cooking and eating food should be avoided. However, sick individuals, pregnant women, and young children may eat if necessary.

Do Not Use Sharp Objects – Items like scissors, knives, and needles should not be used during the eclipse.

Avoid Visiting Cremation Grounds or Places With Negative Energy – Going to such places may increase the influence of negative energies.

What to Do During the Lunar Eclipse?Chant Mantras & Remember God – Chanting the names of Lord Vishnu and reciting the Mahamrityunjaya Mantra is believed to bring positive energy.

Take a Bath & Purify the House – After the eclipse ends, take a bath and sprinkle Ganga water throughout the house to maintain purity.

Donate – After bathing and worship, donating according to one’s capacity is considered auspicious. Donating whole grains in particular is said to bring positive results.
