BJP will hold a 'bell-ringing' agitation in Thane on Saturday (29) demanding opening of religious places including temples, gurdwaras and Jain temples in Maharashtra.

All establishments including places of worship have remained shut since March due to coronavirus lockdown.

BJP MLA and district president Niranjan Vasant Davkhare said in a statement that the state government will wake up with the sound of the'bell-ringing' agitation. In order to restore public life during the Coronavirus outbreak, the Mahavikas Aghadi government started everything under the name of 'Mission Begin Again' except religious temples, gyms and theatres,

Many organisations in Maharashtra have demanded that the state government permit the reopening of temples. However, despite these appeals, the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government has not responded to the requests.

The Central government has already issued a circular regarding the reopening of temples and the important ones across the country are already open.

State BJP head Chandrakant Patil has called for a state-wide agitation on August 29 to press for reopening of temples in the state.
