An unidentified bike-borne man spat on a girl from Manipur in Kalina Area of Mumbai yesterday. An FIR has been registered under Sections 270 and 352 IPC against him on the complaint of the girl. Police is looking for the accused with the help of local CCTV footage.

The National Commission for Women (NCW) has taken suo moto cognisance of the incident. The NCW said it will look into the incident and will take appropriate action.

Terming the incident a ‘racial discrimination’ amid Coronavirus outbreak, the NCW tweeted: “Yet another case of racial discrimination amid #COVID19outbreak, a miscreant spat on a northeastern girl at Kalina Market area in Mumbai. NCW will look into this matter for appropriate action.”
