The State Transport Department (RTO) has mandated the installation of High Security Registration Plates (HSRP) on vehicles registered before 2019, starting January 7. In the first two days, approximately 10,000 vehicles had the plates installed.

The initiative targets around 1.25 crore vehicles in the state, with three organizations assigned to different zones across RTO offices: 12 offices in Zone 1, 16 in Zone 2, and 27 in Zone 3. These organizations must complete the installations by March 31.

HSRP plates feature "IND" in blue, a chrome hologram of the Ashok Chakra, and an embossed registration number, making them tamper-proof and aiding in the recovery of stolen vehicles.
