The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Friday informed about the resumption of the inoculation drive for a day. The BMC said COVID vaccination will take place only for 3 hours (2pm-5pm) at a limited number of its centres in Mumbai today. Further the civic body informed that,"Covaxin will be given only for second dose & Covishield to only people above 45 years of age."

Regarding vaccination for people above 18 years of age it said it will also be available only for 3 hours (2 pm-5 pm) today at certain centres.

The BMC had suspended the COVID-19 vaccination drive at civic and government-run centres on Thursday due to a shortage of vaccines doses.

The repeated suspension of the vaccination drive due to shortage of vaccine doses has irked local residents. Last month also, the inoculation drive was suspended once due to unavailability of sufficient number of vaccine doses.

The BMC in a tweet on Wednesday said, "Dear Mumbaikars, Please note that all BMC and Government vaccination centers will remain closed tomorrow (July 1, 2021). We apologize for the inconvenience. Please watch this space for updates regarding vaccination centres and schedules." The civic body in a statement said the vaccination drive will resume once it receives the fresh stock of vaccines.
