In a shocking incident, a nan's attempt to kill a woman by setting her on fire bacfired after the woman held on to him, resulting in his death. The shocking incident took place in Mumbai's Jogeshwari east on February 6 where the man died but the woman is still battling for her life in a hospital.

The doctors have told the police that her condition is extremely critical. A senior police officer said, "We have registered a case against deceased Vijay based on the complaint by the brother of the woman. Further investigations are on. Many details need to be investigated in the matter."

According to police officials, Vijay and the woman were in a relationship for over two and a half years. Vijay wanted to marry the woman but her family refused the proposal. Police said Vijay started to harass the woman.

On Saturday, the woman was alone at her house. Vijay, aware that the woman was alone, bought a bottle of petrol, poured it on her and set her on fire. The woman, however, caught hold of Vijay and held on to him.

The neighbours doused the fire and took both of them to the hospital. While Vijay succumbed to his injuries, the woman is battling for her life.
