In a shocking incident, at least 22 covid bodies were stuffed in a single ambulance and transported to crematorium in Beed district. The incident has sparked outrage against the hospital administration.

The bodies of 22 patients who died due to corona at Swami Ramanand Teerth Rural Government Medical College at Ambajogai in Beed were stuffed in a single ambulance and transported to the crematorium.

The outrage against the hospital administration forced the Beed district administration to form a team and send to Ambajogai to look into the matter.

The shocking incident took place on Sunday. According to the hospital, the bodies were transported to the crematorium in one ambulance due to shortage ambulances. The hospital has only two ambulances. Five additional ambulances have been ordered in view of the growing covid cases. A letter was written to the district administration on March 17, 2021 requesting for additional ambulances. However, no ambulance has been received yet, the medical college's Dean, Dr Shivaji Sukret clarified.

"To avoid the chaos, we have also written to the Ambajogai Municipal Council to conduct the last rites of the victims between 8 am and 10 pm and the bodies will be sent to the crematoriums from the hospital ward itself," he said.

Citizens are facing many problems due to lack of ambulances and huge outrage is being expressed from the locals.
