In a shocking incident, a 25 year old woman was sexually assaulted at a quarantine centre in Panvel on Friday, police said.

The whole world is currently battling a pandemic. The administration is taking various measures to prevent the spread of the deadly virus. 

Quarantine facility arrangements have been made for corona suspects or high risk people in Panvel and Navi Mumbai area at India Bulls in Kon village. It was in this building that this shocking incident took place. 

The incident took place at midnight on Thursday, when a young woman, who was admitted at the quarantine centre suspected of having contracted COVID-19 was sexually assaulted by a 25 year old man, Ashok Rajput, senior police inspector, Panvel taluka police station, told Lokmat.

The accused and the girl apparently live in the same vicinity. The police has taken immediate action in this regard and have booked him under IPC Section 376. Panvel taluka police is further investigating the matter.
