A young businessman died by suicide by jumping into Khadakwasla dam in Pune. Chandrasekhar Gopal Pujari (age 31, resident of Somwar Peth, Pune) was missing since Thursday night, was found dead in the backwaters of the dam on Friday.

"My bike is parked near Khadakwasla dam. I am committing suicide and please sell my motorcycle and give the money to my mother and 'take care of my mother', Pujari, had sent a voice message to his cousin.

He committed suicide by jumping into the water near Khadakwasla dam wall near Pune-Panshet road. The body of the youth was found floating in the backwaters around 10 am on Friday. Police rushed to the spot and pulled the body out of the water.

Assistant Inspector of Police Arjun Ghode-Patil, Constables Ramdas Babar and Dilip Gaikwad inspected the spot and sent the body to Sassoon Hospital for autopsy.

Chandrasekhar had been running a food stall in the Somwar Peth area. Chandrasekhar Pujari's two-wheeler was found when his cousin and relatives rushed to Khadakwasla around 5 am on Thursday after they received his voice message.

His family members registered a case of missing person with the Faraskhana police station. The exact cause of the suicide is not yet clear.
