Despite having a ration card, the poor do not get free foodgrains from the government scheme in ration shops. Some people can't reach the ration shop even though they have a ration card. A special scheme has been introduced for such citizens.

The Delhi government has made some changes in the processing of food grains available in ration shops. Under the new rules, people who cannot reach the shop for ration due to medical reasons or age will be able to nominate another person for the same.

The nominee can bring the grain of such persons from the ration shop. The card holder has to give his fingerprints on the biometric to bring the grain to the ration shop. Only after that the grains will be given.

Some people can’t reach the store for some reason. Therefore, the free foodgrains provided by the government do not reach such citizens. But the new rules will be of great benefit to such citizens.

The new scheme will benefit families whose family members are above 65 years of age or under 16 years of age and cannot reach the ration shop for biometrics.

In addition, help will be given to families who are disabled or bedridden due to an illness.

Under the new rules, such families will be able to nominate another person to buy foodgrains from the ration shop. The person concerned will be able to buy grain for this family. But the nominee should have Aadhaar card.

For this the ration card holder has to fill a form. Along with this, ration card and Aadhar card will have to be attached. Also the documents of the nominee will have to be submitted. The nominee will then be able to go to the ration shop and buy grain.
