Aurangabad, March 24:

The Ph.D Entrance Test (PET) qualified students were in a dilemma over the vacant seats and guides from colleges without research centres. Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University (BAMU) management council sub-committee on Wednesday submitted a report and sanctioned the vacant posts, which has cleared the way of the admission of the PET qualified students.

The students were waiting for Ph.D. admissions for the past five years. The university conducted PET, in which 4,299 students qualified. However, there was confusion among students due to the UGC guidelines for the appointment of guides and research centres. Hence, the vice-chancellor set up a committee headed by the pro-vice chancellor to search a way out.

On Wednesday, the report of the committee was accepted and the research guides clubbing researches with the college or university research centres were permitted as guides. Hence, the guides can guide the researchers for the researches now. As a result, the way for the admissions of 3,829 students has been cleared now.

The decision was taken in a meeting chaired by vice chancellor, Dr Pramod Yeole, pro- vice chancellor Dr Sham Shirsath, Kishor Shitole, Dr Jaisinghrao Deshmukh, Dr Rajesh Karpe, Sanjay Nimbalkar, Dr Phulchand Salampure, Dr Haridas Vidhate, Sunil Nikam, Dr Narendra Kale, Dr Bhalchandr Waikar, Dr Chetna Sonkamble, Dr Sachin Deshmukh and others were present.
