Aurangabad, April 17:

The Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) started making efforts for the restoration of Kham river for the past several days.

AMC’s Garden Department installed an iron grill at the basin of Kham river near Barapulla Gate on Saturday so that people should not through garbage in the river.

The civic body is installing iron grills on the river and different nullahs to keep them clean.First-time grill installation was done at nullah in Jafar Gate.

Later, the iron grills were fixed at the bridge of Garam Paani and Barapulla Gate under Astik Kumar Pandey's guidance.

AMC assistant commissioner Nandkishor Bhombe, garden superintendent Vijay Patil and junior engineer Chand purchased the required material and making grills at Siddarth Garden at 50 per cent less price. All the grills will be painted with attractive colour to enhance the beauty of the city. Grills would be installed at 28 places in the city under Swach Bharat Abhiyan and State Government’s ‘Majhi Vasundhara Abhiyan. Strict action would be taken against those who will throw garbage at the river or nullah.
