Aurangabad, March 24:

The fire brigade section of Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) today removed around 10 quintals of dead fish from the city's pride Dr Salim Ali Lake.

As reported earlier, the incident of dead fish came to light on Sunday. Later on, the AMC along with the officials of the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB) held an inspection of the lake. The samples of lake water were sent for testing to MPCB, while the samples of dead fish were sent to the zoology department of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University for study and find out the reasons for the deaths of fishes. The report is yet to be received.

The task of removing the dead fishes was started today morning. The fire brigade personnel were ready with one boat. Till the evening the fire brigade personnel removed between 8 and 10 quintals of dead fishes. These fishes were dumped in gunny bags for proper disposal. Meanwhile, the AMC is also inquiring whether anybody had released any kind of poisonous liquid in the water body.
