Aurangabad, Oct 16:

The persuasion of Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) for 10-11 months have yielded results as the MSEDCL provided power supply connection to AMC''s Bio-Methanation Plant at Kanchanwadi. The project of producing gas by processing garbage will be starting in two weeks, said the head of Solid Waste Management Cell Nankishore Bhombe.

Earlier, the state government had granted crores of rupees to AMC to get rid of garbage menace and empower solid waste management permanently. The AMC decided to utilise the fund by setting up four garbage processing plants at Chikalthana, Harsul, Padegaon and Kanchanwadi. Each plant can process 150 tonnes of garbage, barring Kanchanwadi plant. The AMC has established a Bio-Methanation Plant which would be producing methane gas through 40 tons of garbage waste collected from the hotels and vegetable markets at Kanchanwadi.

The project got completed 10-11 months ago, but could not be started due to absence of power supply connection. Now, the decks are cleared, and the AMC has geared up to commission the plant on priority.
