Aurangabad, Feb 12:

The chief executive officer (CEO) of Aurangabad Smart City Development Corporation Limited (ASCDCL) A K Pandey took a revolutionary decision of recruiting transgenders under Smart City Mission. The appointment will be on a contract basis, and they will be given responsibility as per their educational qualification in the Smart City Bus service or Smart City Office, in the first phase, said A K Pandey.

There are more than 500 transgender people in the city. The government, through NGOs and various organisations, are striving to empower them so that they could lead their lives with dignity in society. Many of them are educated and qualified to do a job but are forced to earn their livelihoods by begging on the roads. Taking pity on them, the CEO-ASDCL decided to extend moral support to them.

Pandey said," These persons deprive dignity or respectable status in the society. Hence, we have decided to appoint them on the basis of their educational qualification under Smart City Mission on a contract basis. The proposal will be implemented soon. We have decided to appoint them as announcers to inform citizens about the bus schedule and other details on inquiry or will give similar kind of other works.

The recruitment will be done through an advertisement, and the whole process would be completed in two months. The aspiring candidates should contact the deputy CEO-ASCDCL Pushkal Shivam for further queries, said A K Pandey.
