Aurangabad, March 31:

A Bank of Maharashtra loan manager duped 13 persons of Rs 74.5 lakh with the lure of gaining Rs 25 crores loan from the government scheme with 25 percent subsidy and job opportunities.

A case has been registered against the bank officer at the Cantonment police station on the directives of the Commissioner of Police, Dr Nikhil Gupta on Tuesday.

The accused has been identified as Shailesh Baburao Kamble (Pannalalnagar). Complainant Adv Devkant Balwantrao Meshram met Kamble through a friend. He told him that he is the Bank of Maharashtra's loan officer and also showed his identity card. He told Meshram that he could gain a job in the bank for youths from the management quota and said that each candidate would have to pay Rs 7 lakh for it. He also lured the complainant to gain a loan of Rs 40 lakh for business and took Rs 50,000 from him. Later, the accused, on the lure of job opportunity, took Rs 18 lakh from complainant’s friend Narayan Bhalerao’s son, Kunal Namdeo Shelke, Anil Karbhari Satdive, Vishakha Karbhari Hivarde, Datta Baburao Gaikwadi, Yogesh Prakash Salve and Tushar Gajanan Suradkar. He assured them of giving them appointment letters in 90 days.

Later, for sanctioning Rs 25 crores loan through a government scheme, Kamble took Rs 4 lakh from the complainant, Rs 8.5 lakh from Narayan Bhalerao, Rs 1 lakh cash, and a cheque of Rs 7 lakh from Vishwas Shashtri (Pune), Rs 50,000 cash and Rs 4.5 lakh cheque from Vaibhav Ahirrao and Rs 12 lakh cash from Pruthvi, all amounting Rs 74.5 lakh. Later, he tried to ignore them, telling the reasons of Corona and others. A case has been registered in this regard while PSI P S Bhagile is further investigating the case.

Meanwhile, when the accused came to know that a case has been lodged against him, he threatened the victims that he will trap them in a false case by keeping Marijuana in their house or by committing suicide. Hence, the complainants met the Commissioner of Police.
