Children of financially strong parents were also admitted to reserved seats in English schools under Right to Education Act (RTE).

It may be noted that 25 per cent seats are reserved in private English school for children of economically and social weaker section of society under RTE. The Education Department received more than 16,500 applications for admission to reserved seats in 584 schools of the district.

Of them, 5,676 students were selected while 1914 were admitted as per the draw of lots. A total of 3,101 students confirmed their admission in the first round. The admission for 1539 students of waiting list began from October 3.

In the admissions list, name of children of some financially strong parents like school trustee, businessman appeared.

Commenting on this Education officer Surajprasad Jaiswal said that the submission of application form submission and scrutiny is done online only.

“Many parents show through documents that they live near the school. The parents who are financially strong obtain certificate of low income to become eligible for the admission. We examined admission process and visited a school, but, there was nothing to prove it,” he said.

Jaiswal said that he had received information a girl child of school trustee was admitted under the RTE seats.

“The school trustee obtained certificate showing Rs 45,000 annual income. How can we prove that his income is high ?. If we get complaint with evidence, we will take action against theme,” he added.
