Aurangabad, Dec 12:
The tourism sector, which was reeling under a sort of recession due to closure of monuments, has geared up and got recharged from today after the rush of tourists emerged at the entrances of heritage monuments in the district, since morning.
There was no manual sale of tickets at the heritage spots. As a result, the visitors were holding smartphones in their hands and struggling to scan the QR code to gain entry to the monument sites. The city''s structural monument, Bibi ka Maqbara, also witnessed a rush of visitors, most of whom were from the city and neighbouring places. The visitors experienced the QR Code entry for the first time. The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI, Aurangabad Circle) deployed a technical team to help people in getting their scanning at ease and manage the flow of tourists smoothly.
The ASI office had taken all the safety measures and ensured that staff, as well as the visitors, maintain the standard operating procedures (SOPs). There were sanitisers at different places on campus, and the temperature of each visitor was getting checked with the thermal gun. There was little or zero presence of hawkers outside the Maqbara. The sale of art and handicraft items from the nearby shops was also disappointing, but they were hopeful that the situation would attain normalcy soon and help revive their business, this tourism season.
