Aurangabad, Oct 26:

The cyber criminals duped an industrialist from Waluj industrial area of Rs 12 lakh by sending him an fake e-mail. When he realized about the cheating he immediately informed the bank to freeze the transaction due to which Rs 6 lakh was saved. A case has been registered at the cyber police station in this regard.

According to the details, Varsha Forging Company at Waluj industrial area received an email from the supplier on October 23 stating to deposit Rs 12 lakh on the given account number for supplying the goods. Accordingly, the company deposited the said amount in the account. The company officials after depositing the amount called the concerned person but they were told that they had not sent any such mail to the company. The company owner came to know that someone has hacked the email and sent false email. The owner immediately directed the bank to freeze the transaction, but till then the criminals had withdrawn Rs 6 lakh from the deposited amount. Still Rs 6 lakh was saved. A case of cheating has been registered at the Cyber police station while PI Geeta Bagwade and PSI Rahul Chavan are further investigating the case.

PSI Chavan said, the transactions of the industries are huge and hence they should always do their cyber security audit. Their email-id should be protected with security system so that it cannot be hacked, he said.
