Aurangabad, May 2:

The Mahavir Rasoi Ghar is arranging free meals for the relatives of hundreds of patients who come to the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) every day. The organisation has been providing food not only during the corona period but for the last 3 years. Till sate, 5 lakh needy have received food from the organisation.

Mahavir Rasoi Ghar was started by Sakal Jain Samaj three years ago on the occasion of Lord Mahavir Janmakalyanak Mahotsav. Through this kitchen, the organisation is providing free meals to the poor patients and their relatives coming from the district and sub-district to GMCH. The kitchen for cooking food has been prepared by the Shwetambar Jain Murtipujak Sangh at Jadhavmandi. The menu consists of roti, vegetable, pulao and sheera. Free food is being provided to 500 needy people every day. The Jain Alert Group has taken the responsibility for this initiative. This kitchen has been a support for the poor during the corona period since last year. Unemployed labourers, porters and other needy come to the GMCH premises and wait for the arrival of the Mahavir rasoi vehicle. The vehicle arrives at the appointed time and the needy line-up at a safe distance. All the office bearers of Jain Alert Group including Jeetu Jain, Nilesh Jain, Kiran Jain, Sagar Bothra are working hard for this initiative.

Donate food on birthdays

The cost of food donation is paid by the family on the occasion of someone's birthday or remembering a beloved family member. This does not impose a financial burden on a particular person. All families in the society give a financial contribution.
