The Hyderabad-based contractor of the new water supply scheme of valuing Rs 1680 crore, has submitted the bank guarantee with Maharashtra Jeevan Pradhikaran (MJP), recently. Hence the office will be issuing work order to him in a couple of days, said the sources.

As reported earlier, the state government approved the new water supply scheme and appointed MJP as the nodal agency to implement the project. The Hyderabad-based GVPR Company was shortlisted after completing the tender process. MJP had directed the company to submit the bank guarantee in December. In the meantime, the prices of steel had spiralled up. As a result, the company urged the government to increase the project's cost by Rs 300 crore. As it was not approved, the company was delaying in submitting the bank guarantee. Meanwhile, the discussion over water project was held on the government level, and accordingly, the company submitted the bank guarantee, recently, said the sources. After completing the due official procedures, the work order will be issued to the contractor in two days, it is learnt.

It is learnt that the company, after work order, will conduct a survey from Jayakwadi to Nakshatrawadi to lay main pipelines and also in different parts of the city for laying of distribution pipelines. The survey will help implement the work as per milestones. It may be noted that the chief minister had performed the bhoomipujan of the water supply scheme in the city on December 12, 2020.
