Aurangabad, Jan 29:

A 97 years old woman was crushed under a speeding truck at Bajajnagar in Waluj MIDC area on Friday at around 7.45 am. The deceased has been identified as Anusaya Atmaram Jadhav (Bajajnagar). The truck dragged her for about 20 feet.

Anusaya stayed with her son at Jai Bajrang Society at Bajajnagar in a rented house. She used to go to the Dakshinmukhi Hanuman temple at Dwarkanagari every day. On Friday, she left the house to go to the temple at around 7.30 am. Suddenly, a speeding truck (MH09 AG 6669) dashed her and was injured under the back tyres of the truck. The truck dragged her to around 20 feet. After the accident, the truck driver tried to flee away from the scene, and the nearby residents chased the truck. After covering some distance, the truck driver left the truck and ran away. PSI Prashant Gambhirrao, ASI R D Wadgaonkar, Sonaji Butte, constable Patil, Rameshwar Kawade, Datta Gawali, Manoj Jai, and others took Anusaya to the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), where the doctors declared her dead after the examination.

A case has been registered at the Waluj MIDC police station.
