Aurangabad, July 1:

The soil and water conservation department has given promotions to 160 persons in the state including Marathwada. Importantly, while the government had issued an order on June 29 not to disobey the order passed by the Mumbai High Court regarding filling of posts in the promotion quota, the department on June 30 issued temporary promotions that included 29 people from Marathwada.

It is said that the department has not considered the government's order to ensure that the court's verdict is not disregarded while giving promotions. Deputy secretary C A Pandharkame has issued promotion orders to transfer sub-divisional water conservation officer (Architecture) and other equivalent posts. The circular said the promotions were temporary. The order also states that the promotions will be subject to the writ petition No 6819/2021 issued by the Mumbai High Court on June 29 and subsequent to the order. This includes promotions in the soil and water conservation department. A copy of the order issued by the High Court after hearing the writ petition regarding promotion has been sent by the general administration department to all the offices in the state. But the department is being accused of evading court orders and giving promotions.

29 people from Marathwada

In Marathwada, 29 persons from Aurangabad, Jalna, Beed, Osmanabad, Parbhani, Nanded and Latur districts were promoted.
