Aurangabad, Oct 27:

As Diwali is nearing, companies and private establishments are announcing bonuses to workers. This has created an atmosphere of excitement in the city markets. To avoid going into the crowd, many citizens have already started shopping for clothes and other items for Diwali. The Zilah Vyarapi Mahasangh expects a turnover of Rs 1,500 crore in the next 17 days in the market.

This year, Dussehra came during the month-end. However, the market turnover was Rs 500 crore. Now next month Diwali will be celebrated on November 14 (Lakshmi Pujan). With salary and bonus in hand, there will be a surge in purchases in the market. This year, consumers have started shopping for Diwali since Dussehra to avoid crowds. Mahasangh president Jagannath Kale said that in the next 17 days, all the markets in the city would have a combined turnover of Rs 1,500 crore. All traders prepared this estimate. Trader Ajay Talreja said that at present, there is a rush of women coming to the market for buying children''s dresses and sarees. The textile market is expected to generate a turnover of Rs 200 crore by Diwali. Sanjay Kankaria of the Kirana General Merchant Association said that essential commodities are abundant. The grocery business will have a turnover of around Rs 70 crore. Apart from this, there are signs of good turnover in electronics, mobiles, laptops, gold, furniture, paints and decorative items.

Target is to sell 6,000 vehicles

President, Chamber of Authorized Automobile Dealers Association Rahul Pagariya said, "All the distributors in the automobile market have set a target of selling 1,000 four-wheelers and 5,000 two-wheelers in the next 17 days. It is expected to have a turnover of Rs 150 crore."
