Aurangabad, June 18:

The union Government announced the implementation of a vaccination drive for citizens of age 18 years and above from June 21. However, due to the non-availability of adequate stock of vaccine, the state government has ordered the health administration (urban or rural) to implement a special vaccination drive for citizens of age 30 to 44 years from tomorrow (June 19).

In the urban sector, the Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has set up 10 vaccination centres, while the Zilla Parishad has established eight vaccination centres in the rural sector. According to AMC, the stock of 50,000 vaccines is available with them.

" The AMC has started vaccination drive in city from January 16 and has administered the vaccine to 3.35 lakh citizens till today. Later on, the vaccination drive for citizens of age 18 to 44 years was announced to be implemented from May 1. However, it was stopped in 10 days due to a shortage of vaccine. Presently, the state government has ordered to implement the drive for persons of age 30 to 44 years. The AMC will administer the vaccine to the beneficiaries from 10 am to 4 pm through 10 centres," said the municipal officer of health (MoH) Dr Neeta Padalkar.

The drive for the above age group is also started in the rural sector by Zilla Parishad's health section from Saturday. Eight vaccination centres have been set up in Waluj, Amthana, Manur, Bazar Sawangi, Adul, Laad Sawangi and Aurala Primary Health Centres (PHC) along with the rural hospital at Karmad," said the district health officer Dr Sudhakar Shelke.

Identity Proof mandatory for registration

Meanwhile, the AMC and ZP health officials appealed to the vaccine aspirants to bring identity proof (any one of Aadhar Card, Pan Card, Driving License and Passport) with them. They also instructed they should not remain empty stomach while coming to take the vaccine. Eat the regular quantity of food. Besides, if any of them is having comorbidity then they should inform the doctor at the centre immediately, they stressed.
