Statue of Maharana Pratap to be unveiled on April 18

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:

The equestrian statue of Veer Shiromani Maharana Pratap Singh, installed by the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Municipal Corporation (CSMC) at Cannaught Garden, will be unveiled this Friday, April 18, at 5 pm. The union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will unveil the statue, while Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis will preside over the ceremony.

This announcement was made on Tuesday during a press conference by MP Dr Bhagwat Karad, who was accompanied by former corporator Kanwarsingh Bainade. Dr Karad shared that several dignitaries will be present at the event, including Governor of Rajasthan Haribhau Bagade, Descendant of Maharana Pratap and Mewar’s Lakshyaraj Singh, Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar, Chairperson of the National Commission for Women Vijaya Rahatkar, Guardian Minister Sanjay Shirsat, State’s Minister for OBC Welfare Atul Save, Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Council, Ambadas Danve, along with other local elected representatives from the district will grace the function.

Dr. Karad underlined that the demand to install a statue of Maharana Pratap in the city has been made for the last three decades, and has now finally been fulfilled. The statue stands 46 feet tall, made from ‘Panchdhatu’ (a traditional alloy of five metals), and the project has incurred a cost of approximately Rs 90 lakh.
