Aurangabad, May 2:
Around 6,000 teachers, along with officers of the education department, appeared busy on the COVID survey, even on holiday to contain the spread of the pandemic virus in rural areas. Teachers, officers were doing ground reported to Zilla Parishad (ZP) president and chief executive officer (CEO) on Saturday and Sunday being public holidays through ‘Aaj Mi Kothe’ group.
ZP president Meena Shelke and CEO Dr Mangesh Gondavale, during their visit to Laadsaungi, found that the survey is being done seriously.
Education officer Surajprasad Jaiswal held a meeting of bloc education and extension officers through video conferencing on April 25.
Meena Shelke pointed out small shortcomings. A decision was taken to create WhatsApp group of 39 officers.
The teachers and officers were instructed to send information of their location, photo and brief description of the work daily. This made officers pay attention to the survey. All the officers were seen on a field visit on Maharashtra Day, the public holidays. The Village Vigilance Committee started getting the list of pandemic suspects from teachers. Bloc education officer Jaishri Chavan and Ashok Patil, extension officer Ramesh Thakur were seen in the field on Saturday for the survey along with thousands of teachers.
Surajprasad Jaiswal said that the education department determined ‘Maja Zilla, Majhi Jababdari’ , an extension of ‘Majeh Kutumb, Maji Jababdari’ concept. “Teachers along with officers are busy in the survey even on holiday taking the situation seriously,” he added.
Meena Shelke said that during the visits they received complaints that health and education departments were not getting cooperation from village sarpanch and ZP members.
She said that an emergency meeting was held. “All were instructed to work together. The survey is done through the education department will be helpful to prevent the spread of COVID,” she added.
