In a major push to combat cybercrime, the police commissionerate has ordered the setup of Cyber Desks at every police station. The move aims to speed up investigations, enhance technical expertise and improve digital evidence collection.

A two-day intensive training program on February 24 and 25 at the CP office will equip officers with advanced cybercrime investigation skills. One PSI and two police personnel from each station will learn how to handle financial fraud, navigate the 1930 Portal for online complaints, and investigate cyber offenses on Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp and Gmail. The training will also cover the CEIR portal (ceir.gov.in) for tracking stolen mobile devices and key forensic techniques, including Microsoft Excel applications, Call Detail Record (CDR) analysis, dump data review, CCTV footage examination, and hash value verification. With cyber fraud cases on the rise, the Cyber Desks will enable faster, more efficient crime-solving. A senior officer stated, “This initiative will empower police stations with the necessary tools and expertise to tackle digital crimes effectively.”
